4 weeks ago we did a trip to Athens to see the lady that made our beautiful babies a reality. The purpose of the trip was to let Penny see the amazing quads! It was like a military operation getting all sorted for the 4 day trip. All was going well with a 1.30am alarm call to leave home for 2.30am for a 3.30am arrival at Heathrow Terminal 5. Our departure time was 7.10am to Athens. We arrived at 3.40am. All was going well with feeding of babies landside prior to security. The first issue occured at check-in. The British Airways Check In System through a wobbly and this meant everyone had to be deleted off the system from the first attempt, Mum, Dad, Nan and Grandad and babies. Started whole process again, so check in took a good 45 minutes. Then we hit security!!!! No issue apart from they decided to search all of the babies bags and there was only one man doing the searches. There was a line of bags a mile long to be searched. We raised our concern about the gate closing to be told we had 10-15 mins and no problems. Off I went to Boots to pick up pre-ordered baby milk as we need litre bottle for 4 babies as 200ml bottles dont cut it! Boots did great no issues as only ordered 4 days prior, they like 5 days notice. Got back to security to notice the departure board saying that our gate closed. Tell Mum and she asked security if this correct and they say yes gate closed 10 mins early. Mum very nearly goes into melt down!!! We have missed the plane and next one is in 5 hours time. Another feed to carryout at the airport then! Head for BA Ticket Desk to establish if we can get on the next plane!
